Aegean Sea Stones | A Little Piece of Greece
Some things just call to you.
Lately, I've been completely consumed by opals. Their fire, their colors, their energy. I can't seem to get enough of them. But then, out of nowhere, something else started calling to me.
Rocks.
Not precious gemstones. Not anything rare or expensive. Just beautiful, weathered stones I collected along the shores of a tiny, uninhabited island near Paros, Greece.
We had taken a little boat out into the Aegean Sea, anchored near this quiet island, and wandered along the beach. And there they were. These beautiful, imperfect stones, each one completely different from the next.
Something about them caught my eye. I felt that familiar pull I get when something speaks to me creatively. I didn't know exactly what I would do with them, but I knew I wanted to take them home.
And now, they've found their way onto my jewelry bench.
The Energy of the Greek Islands
If you've ever been to Greece, you know what I'm talking about.
The impossibly blue water. The warmth of the sun on your skin. The salty air. The simplicity of it all. There's something about those islands that gets into your soul and stays there.
It's an energy I can't quite explain, but I can certainly feel it.
And somehow, these little stones bring me right back.
Each one has been shaped by nature, worn by the sea, and left with its own markings, textures, and personality. No two are alike. And no two ever will be.
That's what I love most.
I don't want to recreate them. I couldn't even if I tried. I just want to honor what nature has already made.
A Little Piece of the Aegean
I've taken these stones and paired them with hand-shaped sterling silver and gold, allowing their natural beauty to be the centerpiece.
They're earthy, raw, imperfect, and completely one of a kind.
And there's something so meaningful to me about taking a little piece of a place I love and turning it into something someone else can carry with them.
Have you ever wanted to bottle up that feeling of being on a Greek island? The freedom, the sunshine, the romance, the feeling that life is just a little sweeter?
Well, maybe you can't bottle it.
But you can wear a little piece of it.
The energy is palpable.
Hello, Mamma Mia!
With love,
Kathy
